It’s a Girl! CMC Welcomes Baby Oaklynn Mae as 2022 New Year’s Baby

Cumberland Medical Center’s 2022 New Year’s baby is welcomed as father Taylor Cowley stands with OB/GYN Dr. William E. Smith while Oaklynn Mae is held by mother Alexis.

Cumberland Medical Center announces the birth of the hospital’s first 2022 New Year’s Baby. Oaklynn Mae Cowley was born on Saturday, January 1, 2022 at 12:35 a.m. to proud parents Alexis and Taylor of Spring City.

Baby Cowley was delivered by Cumberland Medical Center OB/GYN, Dr. William E. Smith. She weighed 6 pounds and was 19.5 inches long.

As the 2022 New Year’s Baby, the family received celebratory gift basket from Covenant Health and CMC.

Last year, CMC delivered 701 babies. The hospital was the Upper Cumberland’s only “Best Maternity Hospital” by Newsweek Magazine in 2020.

CMC offers free childbirth classes for those who are expecting to learn about the signs of labor, relaxation breathing techniques, and infant care. The sessions also cover breast and bottle feeding to help guarantee their baby gets the best nutritional start. Registration is required and can be secured by calling (931) 484-9511.
