Destiny Byrge works on the Telemetry unit at Cumberland Medical Center as a certified nursing assistant and health united coordinator. She is from Deer Lodge and transferred to CMC from Roane Medical Center as COVID-19 protocols were being implemented.
“I really enjoy what I do and caring for others,” she shares. “I get to be a part of someone’s care and want to encourage them whenever I can.”
Destiny had seen Intensive Care Unit nurses write motivational messages for patients on their windows and thought she could do the same with her Telemetry patients.
“It’s that extra touch that really means so much to someone when they are down. One of my most rewarding moments was realizing that a patient that I was motivating with scripture happened to be a preacher. He faced a lot of ups and downs, but took time to write me a thank you note. I cherish it.”
