Cumberland Medical Center will hold its Fairfield Glade Wellness Block Party and Health Fair on Wednesday, September 12 from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the CMC Medical Arts Building located at 130 Stonehenge Drive in Fairfield Glade. The event is free of charge and appointments are not required.
Fairfield Glade Police Department will join them for the event in support of Prescription Drug Take Back for those who would like to drop off unwanted and/or outdated medications for proper disposal.
Free health screenings such as blood pressure, Body Mass Index (BMI), glucose finger sticks, grip strength, lung function, and oxygen saturation will be available. Screening mammograms will also be provided and billed to insurance accordingly.
The following Lab Work will be available for $15 each: ABO & Rh Blood Type, Blood Type, a fasting Complete Blood Count (CBC), Comprehensive Metabolic Profile (CPM), Hemoglobin A1C (Diabetic Screening), and a fasting Lipid Profile. B-12 Level and Folic Acid (Folate) are $25 each; PSA prostate screening is $27; Thyroid Profile is $40; Free and Total Testosterone Levels is $45; and Vitamin D screening is $50. Please note: cash, checks or credit card payments for screenings will be accepted at time of service.
Health information will be onsite from various CMC departments, including: Breast Center, Cancer Center, Cardiac/Cardiopulmonary Rehab, Diabetes Services, Endoscopy Center, Hyperbaric and Wound Care, Pharmacy, Sleep Disorders Center, Volunteers, and Wellness Complex.
Additional information will also be available from Crossville Medical Group, Friends of the Glade Trails, LifeStar and AirMedCare Network, and Lifeline Medical Alert System.
Dr. Brockman on: What You Need to Know About Hernias
Immediately following the health fair at noon on Wednesday, September 12, Dr. JB Brockman will present an In the Classroom session at the Fairfield Glade Conference Center located at 128 Stonehenge Drive. His presentation will be “What You Need to Know About Hernias” to help cover the variety of hernias and when signs and symptoms may require treatment.
Dr. Brockman is board certified in general surgery and practices at Crossville Medical Group. He is also an active member of the medical staff at Cumberland Medical Center. Lunch will be served; however RSVPs are required by September 10 and can be made by calling (931) 459-4262.
