Holiday gatherings can be a challenge for those with special dietary needs. If you have diabetes or have had surgical weight loss, Cumberland Medical Center’s Diabetes Services welcomes you to attend a potluck meal and recipe sharing session in celebration of Christmas.

“Christmas is a special time of year. We want to embrace the holidays with everyone and help them see how they can modify their diets with new recipe ideas,” says Linda Brown, registered dietitian and certified diabetes educator with Cumberland Medical Center’s diabetes services. “We hold support groups throughout the year for them and welcome this opportunity to exchange meal ideas, too.”

A diabetic meal plan focused potluck meal and recipe exchange will be held on Monday, December 18 at noon. Another session will be held on Thursday, December 21 at noon for those who have had surgical weight loss.

There is no cost to attend either session. Guests are encouraged to bring their favorite dish and recipe to share with others. The sessions will be held in CMC’s Diabetes Services Conference Room, just off Cleveland Street. Reservations are requested and can be made by calling (931) 459-7164.

Diabetes Services at CMC helps provide diabetes self-management education, which is often covered by most insurance plans. The center also holds a free diabetes support group monthly to further assist one in their journey of living with diabetes.
