NMGA Names Tres Baucum Director of the Year

The National Medical Fitness Association has chosen Tres Baucum, manager of the Cumberland Medical Center Wellness Complexes, as its ‘director of the year’ from a field of 24 candidates representing more than 350 MFA-affiliated fitness facilities.

Tres BaucumBaucum will be honored at the “red carpet award ceremony” during the MFA’s 20th anniversary conference from Nov. 30 to Dec. 3 in Orlando, Florida. The organization headquarters is in Richmond, Virginia. “This award honors outstanding individual achievement and leadership within the medical fitness community. The stellar quality of the nominees makes the achievement even more notable,” commented Ken Germano, MFA executive director. “This organization counts itself lucky to have committed, passionate professionals among our members,” he said.

The ceremony will include a slide presentation featuring the facilities at Crossville and Fairfield Glade in addition to activities and programs offered there. “This is a magnificent accomplishment,” said Dr. Barry Wagner, president and CEO of the Medical Center. “Tres has the intellect and the drive to lead the Cumberland Medical Center’s wellness programs. He is well respected by his employees and facility members for his contributions. CMC is very proud of him and his achievement. I might add this is the second time Tres has received this award. It further validates his expertise,” Dr. Wagner added. The CMC facilities were given the MFA Distinguished Achievement Award in 2007 and 2009 for fitness centers in rural areas. Baucum was also honored in 2009.

The Tennessee House of Representatives in 2007 cited the facilities as being “exemplary institutions” for promoting good health, proper nutrition and exercise. The Cumberland Business Journal, a regional publication that reports on area businesses in 15 counties that make up the Upper Cumberland, named the Wellness Complexes a winner in the 10th annual Ovation Awards in 2010. They were recognized for professional excellence. Readers of the Crossville Chronicle also voted them the “Best Health Facility in Cumberland County.
