are a patient or a visitor at Cumberland Medical Center.
Infection Control
Patients are admitted to the medical center with a variety of illnesses,
some of which may be infectious or communicable. Precautionary measures
are used to prevent the spread of infection
to protect our patients, visitors, and staff. If your condition
requires any special precautionary measures, please be assured that
your medical care will not be compromised. Your nurse will instruct
you regarding special requirements for visitors, personal items,
or other restrictions. An infection control specialist is also available
to answer any questions you may have.
Lost and Found
If you lose something, please have your nurse notify Security immediately.
Every effort will be made to locate the lost item.
Medications
All medications that you take while in the medical center are prescribed
by your doctor, dispensed by the medical center’s pharmacy,
and administered by a nurse. Patients should not administer or keep
personal medications at their bedside, unless prior authorization
with special permission has been obtained.
Smoking
Smoking is prohibited in the medical center. If your visitors wish
to smoke, they must do so outside the medical center at designated
smoking areas. Please understand that this regulation was made to
improve the environment for everyone in the medical center, and
to set a healthy example for the community. Your cooperation is
sincerely appreciated.
Valuables
Please take precautions to safeguard your valuables while you are
here. The hospital cannot be held responsible for loss of money
or other valuables kept in your room. Please do not bring valuables
with you to the hospital. Eyeglasses, contact lenses, hearing aides
and dentures should be kept in protective containers when not in
use and not wrapped in tissue, paper towel or hospital linen.
Wheelchair or Crutches
When your doctor prescribes a wheelchair or crutches for your use
in the medical center, please follow instructions given by your
healthcare team to ensure your safety.
