The Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation staff of Cumberland Medical Center is comprised of highly motivated and qualified licensed therapists and support staff. Our staff reflects Cumberland Medical Center’s mission of service to our community. Services include Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy and Sports Medicine.

Physical Therapy

Physical Therapy provides services aimed at preventing the onset and/or slowing the progression of conditions resulting from injury, disease and other causes. Treatment is provided by our team of highly trained licensed therapists and support staff. The services are provided to people of all ages. Treatment is provided to those individuals with orthopedic and neurological conditions, sports injuries and work-related injuries. We also offer wound care services, aquatic therapy, and a pelvic floor program.

Speech Therapy
Speech-Language Pathologists screen, assess, and treat children and adults for a variety of communication and/or swallowing difficulties. These include disorders of: fluency (stuttering), speech (articulation), language, aphasia, voice, cognition, apraxia, dysarthria, and instruction in speech generating devices. Modified barium swallow studies and bedside clinical swallow exams are done to assist in identifying and treating dysphagia. Etiologies vary from development delay, stroke, cerebral palsy, to progressive diseases such as Parkinson’s or traumatic brain injury.

Occupational Therapy
Occupational Therapy is responsible for providing customized treatments with a goal of restoring and enhancing functional independence and preventing disability. Occupational Therapy focuses on all aspects of self-care and treatment of neurological and orthopedic conditions of the upper extremity. Our staff consists of registered and licensed rehabilitation professionals which includes a certified hand specialist.

Location
Cumberland Medical Center offers three convenient locations. Our main facility is located at Cumberland Medical Center at 421 South Main Street where the patient load consists of outpatients, acute, and Skilled Nursing Facility patients. A second location is in the Fairfield Glade community. Associated with CMC’s second Wellness Complex located at 130 Stonehenge Drive, the facility offers treatment for outpatients and aquatic therapy. Our third location is on Highway 127 in the Physician Associate’s professional office building, Suite 103, currently offering outpatient Physical Therapy services.
