LAUNCHES i-SUITE - A FULLY INTEGRATED, HIGH-DEFINITION OPERATION
ROOM SUITE
Cumberland Medical Center is pleased to announce the recent renovation
and opening of four (4) i-Suite Operating Rooms – a group
of fully integrated, high-definition operating rooms best described
as “operating rooms of the future.”
“With the addition of our new i-Suite Operating Rooms,”
explained Ed Anderson, President/CEO of Cumberland Medical Center,
“Cumberland Medical Center reaffirms its commitment to providing
the highest level of healthcare to our community. The i-Suite provides
a new level of medical care while allowing us to increase the productivity
of our staff, reduce our overall operative costs and most importantly
improve procedural efficiency which can boost patient outcomes.
The i-Suite Operating Room features the latest in operating room
technologies for enhancing the quality and efficiency of surgical
procedures: high-definition imaging and visualization, operating
room integration, state of the art LED surgical lighting, and ceiling
mounted equipment.
High-definition visualization in the i-Suite OR is made possible
through Stryker’s third-generation high-definition video platform,
an industry-leading visualization system for minimally invasive
surgery that includes the 1288 1080pHD 3-Chip Camera, the X8000
Lightsource, and the Vision Elect HD Flat Panel Monitor.
“The high-definition video platform brings an unprecedented
level of resolution and visual accuracy to the operating room,”
explained Dr. Russell T. Garland, Crossville Orthopedics and Sports
Medicine and surgeon at Cumberland Medical Center. “The optical
clarity and color reproduction are a definitive advantage to our
surgical teams.”
Operating room integration in the i-Suite OR is made possible through
the SwitchPoint Infinity systems. The SwitchPoint Infinity system
integrates the high definition video camera, PACS medical imaging
system, Sidne Suite, image guided surgery, and other systems together.
The entire room set up can be saved for later recall using OR Presets
to maximize efficiency. The iSuite can be reconfigured from a knee
arthroscopy to a laparoscopic cholecystectomy rapidly. The Sidne
Suite is a central control system that connects with all compatible
critical devices, such as endoscopic equipment. Sidne allows users
to control those devices through one central touch screen.
“The SwitchPoint Infinity and Sidne Suite improve efficiency
in the operating room, thereby cutting operative times and shortening
the time patients must remain under anesthesia,” said Pam
Kendrick, RN, CNOR, CRNFA, and Director of Surgical Services at
Cumberland Medical Center.
The Stryker Visum LED Surgical Lights integrate LED technology into
a unique multi-reflector design. By utilizing best-in-class LED’s,
the lights remain starkly cool while providing a combination of
brightness, pure white color, and shadow resolution improving visualization
of the operative field. LED technology replaces the light bulb,
requires very little maintenance, and reduces power consumption.
Cumberland Medical Center is the first healthcare facility in the
state of Tennessee to implement the Stryker fully-integrated surgical
suites with 1080p HD video. The i-Suite Operating Rooms will serve
as the centerpiece for CMC’s technological advancement for
both its patients and its staff. For a virtual tour of the i-Suite
Operating Room and its technology, visit CMC’s website at
