CUMBERLAND MEDICAL CENTER AWARDED COMPANY OF EXCELLENCE FOR 2008

The “Company of Excellence” award recognizes Cumberland Medical Center’s partnership with the American Cancer Society in the fight against cancer. Cumberland Medical Center joins with the American Cancer Society to offer a variety of programs and services to cancer patients. These services include:

• Support groups for patients and caregivers
• Reach to Recovery
• Look Good …. Feel Better
• Transportation Grant Program
• Educational classes on topics of interest

CMC partners with the American Cancer Society and offers a community cancer resource center in Cumberland County which is located in the CMC Regional Cancer Center. The resource center helps patients access information, wigs, and referrals to American Cancer Society services.

Cumberland Medical Center also supports the mission of the American Cancer Society through fundraising. The hospital has fielded a Relay for Life team since the event began in Cumberland County, and they have remained a sponsor for all these years. In 2008, CMC employees raised $20,648.78 through seven Relay for Life teams.

The American Cancer Society thanks Cumberland Medical Center as an outstanding partner in the fight against cancer with our Company of Excellence award.
