C. P. R. Alumni support Cumberland Medical Center’s Cardiac /Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program

Recently, the board of directors of the Cumberland County C.P.R. Alumni unanimously agreed to purchase self-help workbooks for all new participants involved in the Cardiac/Pulmonary Rehabilitation program. “After suffering from a cardiac event, any form of information about your recovery is important,” states Bill Koch, President of the Alumni. “Therefore, we felt that giving each participant a written workbook would be helpful in their recovery and assist them to understand what has happened to them.”

The board of directors also felt providing updated educational materials for the current participants would only improve participants’ outcomes. Also purchased were several updated educational videos for the Cardiac / Pulmonary Department. “Anything that assists the patients recover to their fullest ability and regain a quality of life is wonderful,” states Vickie Myers, RN Team Coordinator.

The efforts of the C.P.R. Alumni are very appreciated by the department and Cumberland Medical Center. Anyone who has participated in the programs is invited to attend the annual Picnic to be held Sunday, September 24th, 2006 at the FFG Methodist Church pavilion from 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. This is always a fun filled afternoon with food and fellowship.
