Cumberland Medical Center Welcomes Ayca Kabasakal, M.D.

Cumberland Medical Center is pleased to welcome Dr. Ayca Kabasakal to its active medical staff in August, 2006.  Dr. Kabasakal is an Internist by specialty and treats a wide variety of ailments of adults under this scope of Internal Medicine.  She is a Board Certified Physician of Internal Medicine, but also specializes in Adult and Geriatric Medicine, which she practices with great affection and concern that she feels deeply toward the elderly.  A Diplomat of Internal Medicine, her practice strengths include geriatric care, nursing home residential care, diabetes management, dietary counseling, preventive health, women’s health, diagnostic skills and treatment planning. 

Dr. Kabasakal completed her undergraduate studies at Anatolian College in Turkey, and then graduated from medical school at the University of Cukurova, School of Medicine in Turkey in 1992.  Her externships in Cardiology and Gastroenterology were completed at the New England Medical Center / Tufts School of Medicine in Boston.  She completed her Internal Medicine Residency at Guthrie – Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, Pennsylvania. Additionally, Dr. Kabasakal completed electives at White Chapel Hospital in London, University of Leeds in England, and the University of Munich in Germany. Her Geriatric Fellowship was completed at the University of Miami Jackson Memorial Hospital / VA Medical Center in Florida.

Dr. Kabasakal resides in Cumberland County with her husband. She is very happy to be practicing medicine in the Upper Cumberland area and to be at her patients’ service and disposition for medical care.  She speaks English and Turkish fluently.
