IS CERVICAL CANCER AWARENESS MONTH
(Third leading cause of cancer for women under 30 years of age)
Tennessee has a higher rate of cervical cancer than the average
found through-out the United States.
A study from Ohio State University in 2002 found that due to the
lack of available information and insufficient high school instruction
about the std (sexual transmitted disease) of Human Papilloma Virus
were primary facts which have played a major part in the increased
number of women with cervical cancer.
Most women only learn of hpv, human papilloma virus, when they have
an abnormal pap smear. But, new information has confirmed that many
body cancers are now associated with this virus.
Since 1998 more women in the United States have contracted HIV from
sexual contact than by all other methods combined. Many people still
associate AIDS cases to those that come in contact with blood or
due to the use of drugs.
Since 1998 and up to the present time, HIV with the creation of
lesions from other STDs (Sexual Transmission Disease) has been the
primary factor associated with infection of women. In Africa the
leading STD are the herpes viruses. In the United States, the leading
STD for the infection of women is HPV (Human Papilloma Virus). This
is the same virus associated with the development of cervical cancer.
Doctors in the United States are required to test for HIV when cervical
cancer is discovered due to a possible weakened immune system. The
fact that the HIV may have gained entry by the presence of an HPV
infection is sometimes not discussed with women by doctors or from
high school classroom instruction. The need for this information
about HPV should at the latest be given to women when they receive
an abnormal pap smear.
The new hpv vaccine from Merck which was submitted to the FDA (Food
and Drug Administration) on December 5, 2005. The vaccine is expected
to be approved and available during the first or second quarter
of 2006. The vaccine is expected to be very controversial among
parents, teachers and students. The controversy is expected to be
over the targeted group which is high school-age girls. The need
for information about the largest std (sexual transmitted disease)
in the United States will be an important for issues of discussion.
This book has the answers to many of the questions that will be
raised.
-A NEW BOOK-"Are You at Risk for Cancer from HPV?"
ISBN 0970780818
Mr. Larry H. Gregory - Author
MORE PEOPLE ARE INFECTED WITH HPV (HUMAN PAPILLOMA VIRUS) THAN
ANY OTHER STD IN THE UNITED STATES.
SOME SCHOOL AND PUBLIC LIBRARIES IN TENNESSEE DO NOT EVEN HAVE
A SINGLE BOOK ABOUT THIS DISEASE. THE DISEASE OF HPV HAS BECOME
AN EPIDEMIC IN THE ADULT POPULATION OF UNITED STATES; AND IT HAS
NOW BECOME A MAJOR PROBLEM AMONG HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS.
This book has information about HPV, the Human Papilloma Virus
and its association to a variety of human cancers. This book was
written with the help and aid from a medical doctor at the Ohio
State University Hospital, an assistant professor of nursing at
the Ohio State University's Newark Branch and a Columbus Public
Schools-high school teacher.
The book has information about antioxidants, microbicides, FDA
approved treatments, self-testing for an hpv infection and the history
of viral induced cancers from the early 20th century to the present
time. Many answers can be found to the questions being raised about
this disease which include the methods of transmission, problems
during pregnancy and the importance of a healthy immune system.
HPV is the largest std (sexual transmitted disease) in the nation
and has been proven to be associated with 98.8% of cervical cancers
since 1998. The new discoveries that prove hpv is now associated
with more cancers; and that it is capable of creating a portal entries
for other viruses to enter the body, makes this virus a major medical
problem. For years, the use of the pap smear was the only defense
in the fight against cervical cancer. Now, there are more treatments,
surgeries and testing for the HPV that are not limited to the cervix
but to other hpv infections that are found else where on the body.
The new hpv vaccine from Merck which is recommended for use with
high school-age girls, makes this vaccine a very controversial issue.
This book was written with the intention of answering many of the
questions that may be raised about this virus by the parents and
the female high school students (Photos in the book meet the approval
of parents).
