Cumberland Medical Center is proud to announce that Debra Davis has been named President of TAMSS. The Tennessee Association of Medical Staff Services was established in 1989 with an objective to unit persons who are engaged in support management and coordination of activities performed within various healthcare settings to meet copious quality improvement and regulatory requirements established to ensure optimal healthcare to our communities. The group is healthcare professionals who work in healthcare facilities (hospitals, nursing homes, physician offices, health care management/insurance organizations) and verify every aspect of physician and health care workers credentials. We make sure they are licensed, competent, trained and experienced to perform requested privileges/procedures and who meet specified criteria to participate on medical staffs, HMOs, and physician offices, with an emphasizes on certification: CPCS and CPMSM. NATIONAL MEDICAL FITNESS ASSOCIATION NAMES TRES BAUCUM DIRECTOR OF THE YEAR
The National Medical Fitness Association has chosen Tres Baucum, manager of the Cumberland Medical Center Wellness Complexes, as its ‘director of the year’ from a field of 24 candidates representing more than 350 MFA-affiliated fitness facilities. Baucum will be honored at the “red carpet award ceremony” during the MFA’s 20th anniversary conference from Nov. 30 to Dec. 3 in Orlando, Florida. MEDICAL ARTS AT FAIRFIELD GLADE UPDATE
Cumberland Medical Center is diligently working to meet the completion schedule for the Medical Arts at Fairfield Glade project. Land surveys and soil testing have been completed. Members of the senior management team have determined a proposed design for the building after traveling to several facilities in Tennessee and Georgia. The design was selected to complement the existing structures at Fairfield Glade and final approval is pending.
Cumberland Medical Center is working with March Adams & Associates Consulting Engineers, Chattanooga, Tennessee, and Artech Architecture & Interiors of Chattanooga, Tennessee, to determine the amount of space needed for each service that will be housed in the 30,000+ square foot building.
Cumberland Medical Center’s senior staff will work with the new Fairfield Glade general manager, director of community services, and the Fairfield Glade Community Club Board of Directors to effect the outcome of this project.
AUXILIARY DONATE $100,000 STATE-OF-THE-ART ULTRASOUND EQUIPMENT
Cumberland Medical Center would like to thank its 156 member auxiliary for its ongoing support. The unrestricted donation of $100,000 enabled the hospital to purchase state-of-the-art ultrasound equipment for the medical imaging department. The Auxiliary has provided several contributions this year along with 24,624 hours of dedicated volunteer service. Read More...

CUMBERLAND MEDICAL CENTER BRINGS ORTHOPEDIC COVERAGE TO EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT
Hospitals across the country struggle to provide orthopedic coverage in their emergency departments, Cumberland Medical Center was no exception prior to implementing an Orthopedic Hospitalist Program. Through its Orthopedic Hospitalist Program, Cumberland Medical Center now provides board certified Orthopedic Surgeons to cover the emergency department 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
