- Some heart attacks are sudden and
intense. However, most heart attacks start slowly, with mild pain
or discomfort.
- Often people aren't sure what is
wrong and wait too long before getting help. Here are signs that
can mean a heart attack is happening:
- Chest discomfort that lasts more
than a few minutes in the center of the chest, or that goes away
and comes back.
- Uncomfortable pressure, squeezing,
fullness or pain.
- Pain Spreading to the shoulder, arms,
back, neck, jaw or stomach area.
- Shortness of breath, anxiety, nervousness
and/or cold sweaty skin. Nausea or lightheadedness.
Not all of these signs occur in every attack.
Some go away and then return. If some occur, get help fast - every
second counts!
