1. Significant others may visit 24 hours a day CMC utilizes several security measures to ensure the safety of newborns. You can help by following these guidelines:

  • Never give your baby to anyone unless they are identified as a staff member with the proper identification badge;
  • Know who your nurse is;
  • Notify nursing staff if something seems unusual for example, unscheduled tests or someone you do not know tries to take the baby out of the room. Do not consider yourself a nuisance by asking questions;
  • Be sure that your baby’s bracelet number matches your own.

2. Tennessee State Law requires that all children from birth to 1 year or 20 pounds be secured in a rear-facing car seat. Please bring your car seat to the hospital with you. CMC does not provide car seats. If you do not know how to install your car seat you can have a certified technician inspect it and install it correctly. Call 1-866-SEAT CHECK or go on-line at www.seatcheck.org (click on Child Seat Inspections) for more information.

3. Visitors are permitted to hold babies in the mother’s room providing they are not ill and have washed their hands.

4. No videotaping is permitted during actual deliveries. However,
support persons are welcome to take still pictures. Videotaping is permitted outside of the delivery area.
